 About Lennox Head

Lennox Head is a relaxed, beachside village located just a short drive south from the buzz of Byron Bay.  It is only a 15-minute drive north from the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport and a 1 hour drive south from the Gold Coast Airport.

Lennox Head is famous for its spectacular coastal views and laid-back beach vibe.  It is your quintessential beachside village.  To the south stands a picturesque headland, known locally as ‘The Point’, and Seven Mile Beach alongside the village and further north.

Seven Mile Beach is an impressive stretch of coastline.  It is perfect for surfing, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and stand up paddle boarding.  The northern end of the beach is dog friendly and accessible to 4WD vehicles.  Just south of this area, opposite the Lennox Head Surf Lifesaving Club, is the patrolled area (in the summer months) of the beach.  At the southern end, near the foot of the headland, is a large boat channel, which is a hot spot for young children and families as the waters are often calm and shallow with rock pools for exploring.

The beachside village is also home to the world-renowned right-hand break overlooked by Pat Moreton Lookout. The lookout has sweeping views along the Lennox Head coastline stretching from Seven Mile Beach through to the Cape Byron Lighthouse.  It is an ideal location for whale watching, dolphin spotting or checking out the surfers carve up on the waves.  There are also stunning coastal walks extending north along the well-maintained footpath into the village or the more rugged path heading south towards Boulders Beach.

Located at the northern end of town, opposite the Surf Lifesaving Club, is Lake Ainsworth, a tea tree lined fresh water lake.  It is ideal for stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing.  But don’t be turned off by its dark shade of colour as the water has merely been stained by the teas trees on its shoreline.  There are BBQ and picnic facilities at Lake Ainsworth, which are popular with locals and visitors.

There are also many parks and playgrounds to be enjoyed by children, one located right in the heart of the village directly opposite Seven Mile Beach.  The Lennox Head Community Market takes place on the second and fifth Sunday of the month and The Lennox Hotel regularly hosts live bands and entertainment.

Other wonderful things to do in Lennox Head include paragliding off the headland, taking a surf lesson at Seven Mile Beach or rejuvenate with a swim at our tea tree Lake Ainsworth.

For the foodies among us, Lennox Head and its surrounds has plenty of delicious cafes and restaurants on offer.
